Hi everyone,
I wanted to keep you updated on the current situation with driving test bookings in New South Wales.
According to Transport for NSW and recent news reports, learners across the state are facing very long wait times to secure a driving test. In some areas, people are waiting up to two months or more just to get a booking.
What’s causing the delays?
• A large backlog of learner drivers waiting to sit their test.
• A big increase in demand, including overseas licence holders who must book a test within six months of moving here.
• Limited examiner availability in high-demand areas.
What Service NSW is doing:
• They’ve released 14,000 extra test slots across the state between now and the end of September.
• More testing staff are being moved into busy centres to help reduce wait times.
• “Super Saturdays” are running in some locations to open up more weekend test slots.
What this means for you:
• Please book early — test appointments open 8 weeks ahead and fill quickly.
• Be prepared to check regularly for cancellations, as spots sometimes appear last minute.
• If possible, consider being flexible about which Service NSW centre you book at, as some have shorter wait times than others.
I know this is frustrating for many of you, especially if you’re test-ready now. My advice is to stay prepared so that when your booking comes up, you’ll be confident and ready to go. I’ll continue to keep you updated as more information becomes available.
I always keep a little time aside in my busy schedule. If you’re a previous client and manage to book a test at short notice, please reach out — I’ll do my best to fit you in for a lesson.
